Thursday 13 June 2013. Day 5 Nottingham. Ann Wilcox

The forecast this morning was for rain and the weatherman was correct for once. As the day progressed we had some heavy rain and thunder.

Today we visited Mick’s cousin, Ann, who lives in a small village called Gotham, pronounced “Goatam”.

The GPS decided it wanted to go on the scenic route down beautiful country roads and through lovely villages which made us ten minutes late in getting there. Why it did that is anyone’s guess as there are perfectly good dual carriageways to drive on.

Ann, who is recovering from bowel surgery, looked well and was very pleased to see us. We had a very nice visit lasting about 3 hours and had a great chat about just about everything.

After taking a few pictures we bade her farewell and raced down the road to the car in the pouring rain.

As Lyn was planning a nice dinner, we were pleased when the GPS decided the dual carriageways were the way to get home and we were back there in no time so she could start. We like to keep the landlady  happy so she may invite us to stay again!

It rained all the way home but it did not spoil a very nice day.

  1. Perhaps you should check the ROUTE SETTINGS on your GPS. Most have several options such as SCENIC ROUTE, SHORTEST, QUICKEST, AVOID TOLLS ETC.
