As it was Saturday we had a sleep in before arising to a day of patchy cloud and a cool wind and headed off
to see Mick’s relatives in Radcliffe on Trent. As it happened the day was a mixture of sunshine and pouring rain.
For those of you who are
concentrating, you will be aware that we are staying with a friend in Radcliffe
on Trent so we
didn’t have far to go!
We arrived on time to an
enthusiastic welcome from Helen and her mother Mercia and spent a pleasant three
hours catching up with events both old and new. Lyn also clarified just where Mercia and
Helen fitted in with our family as Mick is hopeless. Mick and Helen also had some informative discussions about digital cameras and photography in general.
We then took a bunch of
photographs before heading off in the heavy rain down the A52 to Sutton cum Granby
to visit Mick’s friend Keith from his teen years living in the UK and
Victoria, his wife.
We watched the Catalunya
Motogp qualifying whilst chatting about old times and filling in the history of
the past 50 years. As mentioned previously, Mick emigrated to Australia from the UK in 1964.
We certainly had a lot to
talk about and very much enjoyed the afternoon.
And as often occurs the day ended in Sunshine.
Stair lift. These things cost £4000 -£6500
