We awoke in Bicker to a very overcast day and decided
not to have breakfast as Edna, our friend in Nottingham
who is kindly putting us up, was cooking a Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding lunch. This saved us £15 to offset the cost of our meals
at the hotel.
When we looked out of our hotel window we saw what looked like a massive traffic jam but it turned out to be a huge Car Boot Sale (trash and treasure) just across the roundabout in a field.
So after we had settled our hotel bill, we went over to have a look. There was everything imaginable for sale and Lyn bought some lovely Royal Dalton and Anysley chinaware in the form of small dishes like Julie in Newcastle collects.
We also bought another as new Thermos flask to put milk in when we are travelling. We now have two thermos flasks to give Davina and Roy when we leave!
After the sale we headed off down the A52 all the way to Radcliffe on Trent where Edna lives.
She has recently bought a new house in a new gated compound which of course neither of our GPS’s knew about so we had to ring her when we arrived at noon in Radcliffe to get directions to her place. We wouldn’t have been able to get through the gate anyway without her pressing her button.
When we got out of the car we could smell the Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding cooking from outside the house!
After lunch we sat down for a long chat as Nadal had dispatched Ferrer in short order so the French men’s singles final was already over.
The next thing on our sporting agenda was the Canadian Formula One Grand Prix of which, fortunately, Edna is an avid fan so we all settled down for the 3 hour uninterrupted coverage from the BBC. No adverts, what a pleasure. Mark Webber managed 4th despite some idiot knocking part of his front spoiler off.
