Tuesday 9 July 2013. Overton

They sell unleaded petrol here with 4 octane levels. 91, 95, 97, 99 and 102 RON. Tesco sells 95 RON (Research Octane Number) and a fuel called Momentum which is 99 RON.  One could guess that it is a higher octane due to its name and the fact that it costs 5p (8 cents) more per litre. The forums say that the octane increase is  achieved by using more Bio Ethanol which is no good for some engines.

Total Excellum & BP Ultimate are both 97 RON. BP also sell 102 RON at a few sites.

Another very warm day and we went to Wrexham to do some more grocery shopping. We were buying more food to contribute to our share of living expenses which seemed fair despite protestations from our hostess!

Lyn bought food to cook 3 nights’ meals of roast pork, smoked cod and gnocchi during which Davina, apparently, is banned from her kitchen!

We also went back to Plassey to do the shops as they had been closed the day before as it was a Monday.

We then returned home and Mick had a look at Davina’s rear offside car door which could not be opened from inside or outside (it is a Volvo). With not enough tools and a degree of difficulty of 10 he abandoned the repair not wanting to destroy and then replace the door trim inside the car.

When Geoff came home from work we drove around to Rebecca’s and Lincoln’s farm (Hill Farm) to celebrate Archie’s 8th birthday with a cake.

Geoff and Mick went for a country walk and the only wildlife they spotted were 2 partridges a long way off.

Whilst they were out, they were approached by what Mick thought was a Gypsy walking towards them on the farm road. It turned out to be Annabelle, Bec and Lincolns daughter, who had just returned from school after appearing in a school play about pirates and she was dressed up as one, complete with beard and head scarf.

We then went home to meet Hannah, Davinas daughter who had come around to have a chat and collect some wooden boot  thingys which fit inside her riding boots to stop them collapsing. Davina had bought them off ebay on her behalf.

Can you spot the Partridges?
