On another beautiful morning
Luke, Davina and Geoff's son and his wife, Angela, and their two sons, Lewis and Finn came
to visit us before departing on a camping trip.
It was nice to meet them all
as we weren’t able to meet them when we were here in 2010. Mick thought that
Luke looked very much like Mick's Uncle Norman, who was Mick's mothers brother.
When they left, the girls
(Davina and Lyn) headed off to the
biggest Marks and Spencers store around in a big shopping centre in the Cheshire
Oaks Outlet Village near Chester, (otherwise known as “shopping heaven”) whilst
Geoff and Mick headed off to a Vintage Rally in the grounds of Bodelwyddan Castle in Wales 45 miles away.
Bodelwyddan Castle is close to the village of Bodelwyddan
near Rhyl, Denbighshire and was built around 1460 by the Humphreys family of Anglesy
as a Manor House.
The Vintage Rally showed off
vintage motorcycles, cars, lorries, trucks, military vehicles, tractors,
stationary engines, traction engines some of which were chugging away most of
the day. Fascinating to watch.
Mick was particularly excited
when he found that there was a perfect example of the first Motorcycle he ever
owned a BSA 250cc C15 Star.
Amongst the cars there was a
beautiful example of an Austin A30 Van which was the first car that his parents
had bought in 1953 and a Vauxhall Cresta of the type owned by the father of
Mick’s childhood friend, Keith Collingwood.
Also at the rally were trials
riders showing off their skills and two guys making various garden ornaments
out of wood using chainsaws.
Geoff found one of his
nephews displaying a couple of beautiful horses so whilst they chatted, Mick
went off to tour the Bodelwyddan
Castle and gardens.
At 4 o’clock Geoff and Mick
met up again and headed home.
Soon after we arrived home
the girls returned happy with their days expenditure and we all had a Chinese takeaway
for dinner.

Wow that E-type is neat. They demand a high price still for enthusiasts here in Australia. If he wants to sell it there is money to be made. I saw a perfectly restored car in Brighton Road a few months back and the owner said he wouldn't sell it for 50,000.
