A
slightly cooler day today but brilliant sunshine so and we caught up with our
washing as we are leaving here tomorrow.
Davina also took Lyn to get her hair cut as it “was driving her crazy……”.

In
the afternoon Lyn and Mick went to the wood yard to have a cuppa with Geoff and
his various friends who randomly call in, only to find him asleep in his office.
This is one of the symptoms of his Polymyalgia Rheumatica ie extreme tiredness.
Sure
enough whilst we were there his nephew, Michael arrived to chat as did Dave, a
good friend of his. Business is very slow at the moment.
Lyn
cooked the evening meal again as the previous two nights efforts of Roast Pork
followed by Smoked Cod went down a treat. Tonight was Gnocchi.
After dinner we went for a drive to the Chirk Aqueduct. The Chirk Aqueduct is a 70-foot (21 m) high and 710-foot (220 m) long navigable aqueduct that carries what is now the Llangollen Canal across the Ceiriog Valley . The
huge arched structure carries narrow boats, pedestrians and cyclist across the gorge.

When we were standing in the
middle of it we had expansive view of the countryside which was dotted with
rabbits and a pair of Pheasants grazing on the lush grass. It was a great spot
to watch the world below.
After taking in the view we
headed off with Davina and Geoff through Chirk for a pint at a distant pub
called The Hand deep into the Welsh countryside. As Lyn pointed out it took
much longer to get there than it did to drink our pints!
The Pub was at a place called
Llanarmon in the Ceiriog Valley which is known as "The Valley of the
Poets", due to the influence of this evocative landscape on generations of
poets and artists: John Ceiriog Hughes, the "Welsh Shakespeare" was
born within sight of The Hand, and many contemporary poets and artists live and
work in the village and surrounding farms.
A group of senior age Motox
riders were having a drink before roaring off to tear up some more of the
countryside.
Tomorrow
we leave for Haydock, 12 miles out of Liverpool,
“She Loves Me Yeh Yeh Yeh……….”
Footnote:
The Jackdaw we rescued a few days ago is recovering well and being cared for by the next door neighbour. They were keeping it under an upturned clothes basket to protect it from their cat and 3 dogs and Mick suggested getting a large cage. Today his wife arrived home with a box with a wire front followed by her husband with a larger box followed by Geoff with a bigger box with a wire front. So it should be OK now. It is flapping it's wings beautifully so the hope is it will make a full recovery.
