Sunday 4 August 2013. Crieff.

Ahhhh.. at last a good nights sleep. No jets flying overhead, no creaking, clanking radiators, no doors banging, no-one talking in the corridors with loud voices in the middle of the night.

The weather is a little cooler in Scotland and a bit breezy at the moment. We had quite a bit of rain overnight. Mick has had a cold which is now clearing up and Lyn said she needed a rest today so we spent an hour walking around the village which is quite small.

The Edinburgh Woollen Mills shop here was selling wool and Cashmere items for less than the people were paying in Edinburgh. There were some pictures in a previous blog of the many Cashmere shops in Edinburgh  where hundreds of Asian people were buying up big. Just shows they should have come to Crieff.

We have WiFi here which works great on our smart devices but our laptop keeps dropping the signal. We have to use the connection manager provided by O2 as it also connects the WiFi dongle and it takes over the normal WiFi software. It shows that the WiFi is connected but unless we keep disconnecting and reconnecting  we can't do anything.

This has happened previously and it is a nuisance. Even when Mick sits right next to the WiFi modem it still does it. The Smartphones and Tablet have no problems.

In frustration, Mick went to the "Reject Shop" here and picked up an 5m Ethernet cable for $10 and now plugs straight into the modem via one of the RJ45 ports and it now works fine.

  1. It might be time to replace the wi-fi module in the laptop. I have bought them on Ebay for about $5 as they are all the same made by Intel. Something to think about.
