Monday 20 May 2013 - London. Harrods

Today when we awoke it was drizzling rain but fortunately it went away and it didn't rain for the rest of the day. We eased into our activities by catching the train from Dagenham Heathway railway station into the city. We decided to have a good look around Harrods which takes up the whole of a large building in Knightsbridge. We got off the tube after changing once and found ourselves right outside the door.

We spent quite some time perusing stuff on the 7 floors. They sell just about everything but by and large it is quite expensive. That didn't stop Lyn hitting the Travel Card though. We haven't had one rejection of the card yet despite the fact that the UK Pin system in shop EFTPOS machines doesn't work and we have to sign for everything. (The PIN works fine in ATM's though. Go figure).

We got to see the Diana and Dodi memorial on the LG floor which was quite tasteful and we had a Latte in one of the many cafes in the building. The two coffees cost us £10.12 which is about $16 which is a bit steep but they did have a lovely tree pattern on the top in the milk and it tasted good.

I asked for the Harrods price of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 which at £380 ($585!!) wasn't a bargain. Looks like Glenn got a bargain here in Aus at Hardly Normal. The electrical  stuff was hellishly expensive. The Bose QC15 noise cancelling headphones were £279 ($429 at 65p per dollar),

Bang & Olufson 4-85 3D Modular Home Cinema. Price £66,000 but it comes with an Oppo Blu Ray DVD player, remote, media cabinet and 4 pairs of 3D glasses . Oh, and the Beo 10 speakers cost £2800 extra.

Harrods have a Bundy Bear!

Fancy a cover for your iPhone 5. Gold and Diamonds for £15,200

After we left Harrods we took the tube down to St Pauls (a tube station) to see St Paul's Cathedral. Google it if you want to see it's history (happy Simon?). Suffice it to say that the Germans missed it during the blitz.

We then had had about enough and headed home which took about an hour.

We have booked to see Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre in Shaftsbury Avenue tomorrow evening. Mick wanted to see We Will Rock you based on the music of Queen but Lyn said "No".

Lyn is still taking her antibiotics and gets better by the day.
